It's not every day you get to meet someone who inspires you to the core, who changes how you look at your life, but this is exactly what spending time with legendary Hawaiian singer Jimmy Borges will do to you. After travelling to the other side of the world to meet with the seasoned entertainer, I was profoundly moved by the way he welcomed me with open arms - and a lei. By how the people he meets don't pass up a chance to thank him for sharing his heart through his music and storytelling if he happens to walk by. What's equally moving is watching how he graciously thanks them all for taking the time to express their love. When I left after filming this interview at his home in Honolulu, my heart was full. Months later, it still is. You only have to watch the interview to see why.

Jimmy Borges has spent his lifetime immersed in music. Tony Bennett once said: “Wherever this man goes, follow him. He’s one of the best singers I’ve ever heard.”

Jimmy also is the only entertainer with exclusive access to Frank Sinatra's musical library of over 2000 arrangements. He saluted Sinatra in multiple concerts with the Honolulu Symphony as well as performed as an invited guest at the legendary Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament in Palm Springs. Jimmy is an entertainer’s entertainer and delights his audience every time he performs.

In his first foray in to the world of modern recording, Jimmy has chosen songs straight out of the Great American Songbook. He just completed recording Jimmy Borges with legendary Hawai'i producer, Jon de Mello.

It’s hard to believe that a man who has performed at such celebrated venues like the Fairmont and Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco, The Latin Quarter in NYC, The Schubert in Boston, Harrah’s in Reno and Tahoe, the Dunes in Vegas and the Copacabana Palace in Rio De Janeiro (to name a few) hadn’t been in the studio for literally decades, but it’s true. He’s performed at every great venue in Hawaii with the best musicians. He held court at the Hyatt Regency Waikīkī Trappers for well over a decade.

His achievements are many; he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts; the Legacy Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Music Foundation of Hawai'i and countless others during a long and fruitful career. Honolulu columnist Wayne Harada singled out Jimmy as “one of fifty notable islanders who made a difference and influenced the entertainment world since Statehood”.

His acting career has had him appearing in 15 plus segments of Hawai'i 5-0, Magnum PI as well as Charlie’s Angels, the Jefferson’s, & The Rockford Files. He’s appeared on national television singing for the Merv Griffin Show, the Jonathan Winters show and a Victor Borges Special. He’s been invited to sing the national anthem for the LA Lakers, the Oakland Raiders, the Phoenix Suns as well as his hometown University of Hawai'i Rainbows.

Popular culture is once again embracing Jimmy’s preferred music and it’s time to introduce his unique style to a young and vibrant audience. His self titled CD, Jimmy Borges will appeal to a new generation as well as the seasoned listener from all walks of life.
